Week 48 was a very busy week! First of all, Tucker turned 11 months old. That means that the next month milestone will be his 1st birthday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone, and I'm trying to savor the final couple weeks of having a baby.
The weekend was both Jeremy's birthday and his first Father's Day, so we had a fun-filled family weekend. The birthday boy wanted ice cream for lunch, so we went to Izzy's in St. Paul. It was delicious and Tucker cried when it was gone. Then, we spent Saturday afternoon at the Children's Museum, and Tucker loved it! At first, he thought that it was a daycare and that we were leaving him there. We put him in one of the exhibits to crawl around in, and he just started crying and kept crawling back to us. After a few minutes playing with Mommy and Daddy, he realized that we weren't leaving him and he had lots of fun. He loved splashing around in the water exhibit. He would hold onto the edge and jump with excitement. He also got to pet a turtle which he thought was pretty cool, too. He looked at the woman holding the turtle with shock when the turtle moved. His favorite part of the museum was a Rube Goldberg type contraption. When you turned the crank, a ping pong ball would shoot up and then roll down one of several wire paths. We watched a couple different times for at least 10 minutes each, but he would have watched even longer if we didn't make him move on. Maybe we have a little engineer on our hands.
We went to The Nook in St. Paul for a delicious Juicy Lucy hamburger for supper, and then headed to a hotel for the night. The next morning was Father's Day, and we spent it at the Minnesota Zoo with my parents so that I could see my dad for Father's Day as well. We spent 4 hours at the zoo, and Tucker enjoyed watching the otters and penguins swim around. He also got to pet and feed some farm animals. He liked petting the goats and sheep, but he didn't quite understand why we made him give the food to the animals. He wanted to eat it instead! He got to pet a cow as well, and squealed every time it moved.
Tucker has learned to say "buh bye" and wave when we leave daycare or when Daddy leaves for work. It is pretty adorable. He also will put a spoon into his mouth and take a bite if I put food on it first. Once in awhile it ends up on his cheek or forehead, but his hand-eye coordination is getting better every time we practice.
A couple weeks ago, he would shake his head back and forth and giggle. Now, he shakes his head back and forth when he means "no." Usually, he is saying "no" to food or water.
One night as I was putting him to bed, he was very wide awake and calm before I started nursing him, so we were talking and playing in the rocking chair. I would rock him back and forth while saying "cha cha cha" and then when I stopped he would wiggle and say "cha chaaaa!" Needless to say, bedtime was a little delayed as I soaked up the moment.
Last weekend, we went to a Twins' game. He is always such a good boy during the game. He loves people watching, spending time with Mom and Dad, and being outside so it is the perfect activity for him. We shared a taco at the ball park, and it was obvious that he felt like such a big boy. I love watching how proud he gets when he tries new "big boy" things.
There are a lot of pictures from a busy two weeks. Enjoy!

Walking around at the zoo for Father's Day. This was Daddy and Grandpa's weekend, but all of the activities revolved around me! Some people might say that I'm spoiled, but I don't mind. |

Yes, distract him with food and I will examine him. |

I love smashing blocks together. |

And they taste pretty good, too. |

Uh oh (again and again and again)! |

I refuse to miss out on anything at daycare, so I refuse to nap. Sometimes, I fall asleep at the supper table! |
